Mid-Georgia Soaring Association Membership Information

MGSA offers various membership categories to accommodate rated glider pilots and members desiring use of club equipment and instruction (depending on instructor availability); as well as social and non-flying activities. Applications for Full Membership are submitted along with fee payment (dues is pro-rated by month as calculated by the Treasurer) to the Membership Director or Treasurer in order to qualify for immediate flying privileges in a temporary "Provisional Member" status. After 90 days, membership can be converted to "Full Member" upon personal appearance and acceptance at a monthly general membership meeting. It is suggested that prospective new members observe flight operations and meet various members to become familiar with MGSA before submitting an application for membership. Since all club operations are conducted by members only, all Full Members are expected to serve as a daily Operations Director, Tow Pilot, Instructor, Crew Chief, MGSA officer, or other duties qualified to perform.

FULL MEMBER:
Eligible to fly any MGSA aircraft qualified by logbook CFIG sign-off, take MGSA aero tows, and received club-sponsored instruction (at fees determined by the instructor). All voting and social activities privileges.

Fees: $500 one time MGSA initiation fee, $295 annual dues and $64 annual Soaring Society of America (SSA) membership. In addition - members choose between EITHERa) a one time capital funding non-interest bearing note for $500 (to be returned if member leaves the club or when debt is retired according to a pre-determined repayment schedule, OR b) a $50 annual interest fee.

FAMILY MEMBER:
Spouse and children ages 14 - 25. Same privileges as Full Member.

Fees: $250 initiation fee, $147.50 annual dues and $64 annual SSA membership. No capital funding note or interest required.

STUDENT MEMBER!:
REDUCED RATES FOR STUDENT BUDGETS!

Must be a full-time student under the age of 23 enrolled in an accredited high school or college.

Same privileges and responsibilities as Full Member.  Eligible to fly any MGSA aircraft qualified by logbook CFIG sign-off, take MGSA aero tows, and received club-sponsored instruction (at fees determined by the instructor). All voting and social activities privileges. 

Fees: $250 Initiation fee, $147.50 annual dues, $36 SSA Youth membership. No capital funding or interest.

ASSOCIATE MEMBER:
No flying or voting privileges but eligible for all social activities and newsletter.

Fees: $40 annual dues and $64 annual SSA membership. No other fees.

Tow Fees: Typical charge for 2000 foot tow in club ship - just $40, including $5 insurance charge.
